Fangyu Peng is member of New Century Excellent Talents in Universities of the Ministry of Education of China, professor and Ph.D. supervisor in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, deputy dean of School of Mechanical Science and Engineering in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, deputy director of National NC System Engineering Research Center, mainstay of State Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing Equipment and Technology. He has undertaken 12 national major programs, such as the National Major Projects of NC System, project of the National Science & Technology Support Program, 863 goal-directed project, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (General Program), 973 project, Preliminary Research Project, etc. main research fruit of his are listed as follows. About 85 research papers are published, among which 20 papers are indexed by SCI and 50 papers is indexed by EI. 10 national invention patents 9 software copyrights are granted. He received one second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, one first prize of Science & Technology of China Mechanical Industry, and two first prize of Scientific and Technological Progress Award of Hubei Province. He is one communication and review expert in the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and reviewer of many famous journals such as International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, Science China, China Mechanical Engineering, Journal of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Journal of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Journal of dalian university of technology, etc. He is also committee member of Intelligent manufacturing professional committee, Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), and Automation for Machinery Industry professional committee, Mechanical Engineering Society of Hubei Province.
