From April 10th to 13th, the 8th International Conference on Fluid Power and Mechatronics （FPM2019）was successfully held in Wuhan. The conference is undertaken by the State Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing Equipment and Technology, and the Department of Fluid Power and Control Engineering of MSE, HUST.
Held once every 4 years, the FPM Conference is hosted by the Branch of Fluid Drive and Control of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, aiming at providing a high-level platform for international peers. FPM2019 won the support from IEEE, National Natural Science Foundation Committee, GFPS as well as business circles.
Academician Yang Huayong from Chinese Academy of Engineering worked as Honorary Chairman of the Conference, and Prof. Kong Xiangdong, Committee Member of the Branch of Fluid Drive and Control of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, was the Chairman. Prof. Li Baoren from MSE of HUST, Prof. Jiao Zongxia from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Prof. Wang Qingfeng from Zhejiang University were co-chairmen. Academician Ding Han and He Lin were co-chairmen of the International Conference Academic Committee. Prof. Liu Yinshui from the Department of Fluid Power and Control Engineering of MSE acted as chairman of the Organization Committee. Pro. Li Baoren chaired the opening ceremony, Prof. Kong Xiangdong and Prof. Shao Xinyu (Chair of HUST Administration Committee) made a speech on behalf of the host and the undertaker respectively, while Academician Yang Huayong made a speech as the Honorary Chairman of the conference and representative of GFPS.
At the meeting, 15 famous scholars in the field of fluid power and mechatronics from China, the USA, Germany and some other countries gave invited presentations, covering main applied areas of fluid power techniques on aerospace, navigation, engineering machinery and robotics. These presentations are the latest researches in the world on fluid power and control techniques, which got high-level concern and triggered heated discussions among the attendees.
After strict screening, the conference collected 224 international papers, among them 114 are oral presentations and 110 are posters. Experts selected 4 Excellent Papers, 5 Best Papers, 1 Best Paper for GFPS, and 5 Best Posters. Pang Hao, Doctorate student of Prof. Liu Yinshui from Grade 2017, MSE, won a Best Paper Award.
It is calculated that about 600 persons attended the conference, so the number of attendees and scale of the conference broke the record of previous ones. During the conference, more than 300 experts paid a visit to the State Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing Equipment and Technology and the Hydraulic & Pneumatic Laboratory of HUST.
