Professor Nick Bryan-Kinns from Queen Mary University of London（QMUL） visited Industrial Design Department, School of Mechanical Science & Engineering for academic communication on May 13th ,2019, at the invitation of Ji Qian, Cao Ying and Wu Lei of Industrial Design Department (hereafter “the Department”), MSE.
On the morning of May 13th, the Department held a guest professor awarding ceremony for Professor Nick, which was hosted by Professor Xu Jianfeng, Vice Dean of MSE. Director Gan Huijie and Vice Director Yang Yi, from Office of Discipline Construction and Internationalization of MSE, and staff of the Department attended the ceremony. At first, Professor Xu Jianfeng delivered a welcome speech. On behalf of MSE, he extended his warm welcome to Professor Nick's participation and looked forward to further development. Then, Professor Nick expressed his gratitude to the Department and the School and discussed academic research issues with the teachers. Finally, Professor Xu Jianfeng awarded Professor Nick the Certificate of Guest Professor and the badge of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
In the afternoon, Professor Nick gave an academic lecture entitled “Interaction Design for Media and Arts Technologies” for teachers and postgraduates. He introduced three main directions of his current research: design studies of traditional culture, design studies for children with dysfunction, and interaction design studies for VR. The vivid content of the lecture attracted a lot of interest from the students. The students frequently asked questions and Professor Nick answered them patiently. At the same time, Nick also introduced the summer camp activities of QMUL and cooperative students cultivation plans between QMUL and HUST. Everyone is looking forward to aking part in these activities.
