From November 15th to 17th, the 5th "Theory and Technology of Soft Robots" Seminar and "Soft Robots Innovation Design" Competition was held successfully in HUST. This Seminar was hosted by the Robotics Division of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES), and organized by HUST, the State Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing Equipment and Technology, and Hubei Provincial Association of Artificial Intelligence.
Academician Ding Han, Director of MSE, HUST, chaired the seminar. Prof. Wu Zhigang and Huang Yong'an, and Prof. Zang Jianfeng of School of Optical and Electronic Information, HUST, were chairmen of the organizing committee of the Seminar. More than 300 teachers and students from universities abroad and home presented at the seminar, such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Harbin Institute of Technology.
On the morning of November 16th, Vice President of HUST, Prof. Zhang Xinliang, declared the meeting open and addressed at the opening ceremony. On the seminar, there were 10 invited reports on the topic "Soft Robots", coving many research areas like kinetic characteristic of magnetron robots, robots exoskeleton, etc.
