On December 13, at the press conference of the 10 Major Events of Science and Technology Publishing for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and the 100 New Scientific and Technological Books Published in 2019, the monograph Permanent Magnet Spherical Motors-- Model and Physical Field Approaches for Designs, Sensing and Control (English version) of Kun Bai and Kok-Meng Lee, teachers of the State Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing Equipment and Technology, was selected into the 100 New Scientific and Technological Books Published in 2019. The book was also the first English monograph of the Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics Series of Books jointly published by Huazhong University of Science and Technology Press and Springer Press.
The 100 books included academic works, technical monographs, popular science books and reference books, all of which were scientific and technological books published from January to September of 2019. In addition, they were listed into the key publications of major publishing topics in 2019 by the Publicity Department of China, the national "13th Five-year Plan" key publishing plan and books supported by the National Press Fund. Among all books from 108 university presses of the whole nation, only 8 were selected with their books.
The Intelligent Manufacturing and Robotics Series of Books are a series of books reflecting theoretical and technological progresses compiled by experts and scholars in the field of intelligent manufacturing and robotics under the background of national strategic needs and relying on the profound academic background and advantages of HUST. Academician Xiong Youlun of MSE is the initiator of the series and chairman of the experts committee. Academician Ding Han and Professor Sun Ronglei of MSE are chief editors of the series.
