On April 19, the "DME of Tsinghua—MSE of HUST Joint Doctoral Students Academic Exchange Forum" and its closing ceremony were successfully completed online. At this joint forum, 8 excellent students from Tsinghua University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) gave oral presentations, and Prof. Zhang Chenhui from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME) of Tsinghua University was invited to share his scientific research experience and achievements. Prof. Shi Tielin, Secretary of the Party Committee of MSE of HUST, LV Zhigang, Secretary of the Party Committee of DME of Tsinghua University, Wang Jiadao, Director of DME of Tsinghua University, and hundreds of students from the two universities attended the forum through Tencent Conference APP.
On the morning of April 19, 8 outstanding students conducted academic exchanges by oral reports, covering different directions such as manufacturing, robot control, sensor technology and principle, optimization algorithm and trajectory prediction. Prof. Zhang Yunqing and Prof. Lu Wenlong from MSE of HUST, Qu Timing, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of DME of Tsinghua University, and Zhao Huichan, a research fellow of DME, served as judges of the forum. The judges and students actively asked questions to the reporters, and wisdom was sparked during the communication and interaction.
On the afternoon of April 19, Prof. Zhang Chenhui gave an invited report entitled "Liquid Superlubricity Research", introducing his team's research in the field of liquid superlubricity with "the story triggered by a cup of yogurt". Zhang also introduced the process of overcoming various difficulties during the research, and finally they made a breakthrough and achievements. Later, he communicated with the attended students through voice and chat room, which not only broadened their research vision but also helped them understand the research spirit.

Prof. Shi Tielin made a speech at the closing ceremony of the forum. He reviewed the long-standing friendship between MSE of HUST and DME of Tsinghua University, fully affirmed and thanked the positive role played by the joint jorum of the two units, and hoped that both sides would strengthen exchanges and learning in many aspects in the future.

Qu Ti Ming, on behalf of the organizing committee, summarized the organization work of the forum. He said that this was the first time the forum being held online, but the number of participants reached the highest level over the years, greatly developing new forms and methods of communication. Lv Zhigang announced that Geng Shaoning and Chen Liming from HUST, and Wang Ze and Cui Mengjia from Tsinghua University won the "Excellent Oral Report Award" of this forum.
At last, Wang Jiadao, Director of DME of Tsinghua University, gave the summary speech. Wang fully affirmed the significance of the successful holding of this forum after overcoming all kinds of difficulties, and expressed gratitude for the participation of MSE of HUST. Then he put forward new requirements for the graduate students of mechanical discipline under the current situation, and encouraged the students to continue to do meaningful research for the country and the society.

The forum strengthened academic exchanges on mechanical discipline between the two universities, and developed new ways of communication. The teachers and students attended the forum have learned about different directions and latest research achievements in the field of mechanical engineering. This fully demonstrated the confidence of "continuous line" in the academic exchanges between the two universities’ graduate students of mechanical engineering, and showed the desire and determination to jointly defeat COVID-19.
