MSE Won 3 First Prizes of Hubei Provincial Technological Invention Award

On the morning of June 12, the 2019 Hubei Provincial Scientific and Technological Award Conference was held in Wuhan. Mr. Ying Yong, Secretary of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, attended the conference and delivered a speech. Mr. Wang Xiaodong, Governor of Hubei Province, presided over the conference. MSE had a bumper harvest and won 3 First Prizes of Hubei Provincial Technological Invention Award.

The 3 projects won the First Prizes of Hubei Provincial Technological Invention Award were as follows: “The Key Technologies and Nanometrology Applications of High-precision Broadband Mueller Matrix Ellipsometry” completed by Liu Shiyuan, Chen Xiuguo, Zhang Chuanwei and Jiang Hao, et al., “Wearable Robot Technology for Reconstructing and Repairing Human Motor Function” completed by Xiong Caihua and Chen Wenbin, et al., and “In-situ Hybrid Micro Casting-forging Additive Manufacturing Technology and Equipment for Metal Parts” completed by Zhang Haiou et al.. Prof. Zhang Haiou, as an award-winning representative, delivered a speech at the conference. Zhang said: "We must bear in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping's instructions, adhering to innovation driven, bravely scaling new heights, and improving the core competitiveness, so as to realize the independence of key core technologies, and firmly hold the initiative of innovation and development in our own hands.”

The project team of “The Key Technologies and Nanometrology Applications of High-precision Broadband Mueller Matrix Ellipsometry” proposed a series of new principles of measurement, and invented precision calibration algorithm with instruments, and nanostructure scattering calculation measurement method, etc.. What’s more, the team developed China’s first High-precision Broadband Mueller Matrix Ellipsometer, which has realized the transformation and industrialization and formed a series of ellipsometer products. The instrument has been successfully applied in more than 100 academic institutions at home and abroad, and has been industrialized and sold more than 40 sets. This project broke the long-standing monopoly of foreign enterprises on China's ellipsometer market and filled in the gap of China in the field of ellipsometer.

The project team of "Wearable Robot Technology for Reconstructing and Repairing Human Motor Function" have dedicated themselves to the program for more than ten years. They developed the first prosthetic hand bearing biological motor intelligence, and realized the direct and natural control of neuromuscular electrical signals on the prosthetic hand, and the ability of natural motor reduction was increased by 2.75 times. Also, they successfully developed the first under-actuated exoskeleton rehabilitation robot which could reproduce the natural motor function of human upper limbs. The team have realized mass production and export of the robot products in many rehabilitation medical equipment enterprises, obtaining remarkable economic benefits. The technology has been promoted and applied in Tongji Hospital, Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of HUST and other units, which assisted more than 10,000 patients with motor function impairment.

The project team of "In-situ Hybrid Micro Casting Forging Additive Manufacturing Technology and Equipment for Metal Parts" have been working hard at the project for nearly 20 years. It was the first time to realize the in-situ hybrid micro casting-forging additive manufacturing with multi degree of freedom collaboration, excellent microstructure and performance, as well as stable and reliable quality, solving the key and core problems of complex large-scale parts manufacturing, which was of great significance to the independent innovation of China’s heavy machinery. Related products have been applied in the equipment manufacturing fields of large aircrafts, ships, advanced rail transits, etc.. The team successfully developed the micro casting-forging equipment for the first time at home and abroad, and obtained more than 20 patents and other innovative achievements. The overall technology ranked in the international leading level. The project subverted the traditional mechanical manufacturing process and equipment at home and abroad, and was expected to end the traditional heavy industrial manufacturing mode.
