Born in January 1957, Professor Chen is a doctoral supervisor of HUST. He got bachelor’s degree in 1982 and master’s degree in 1984 from Shanghai Jiaotong University . He got doctor's degree in 1990 from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He did Postdoctoral research at the University of Birmingham, UK from 1991-1992 and he was a visiting scientist of National University of Singapore during 1998 and 1999. Currently, he is a senior member of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and a member of Wuhan Science and Technology Expert Committee. Meanwhile, he is a contributing reviewer of IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering and International Journal of Agile Manufacturing.
