Yang Shuzi

Shuzi YANG, a famous expert in mechanical engineering, is a professor of Mechanical Engineering in Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). Graduated from HUST in 1956, he was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991 and was the former president of HUST and chairman of the Academic Committee in HUST.

Through the combination of Mechanical Engineering, cybernetics, information theory and systems theory, he has devoted himself to the Interdisciplinary research on new developing fields of microelectronics, computer science, information science and internet technology. Thus, he has gained notable achievement in many aspects including advanced manufacturing technology, equipment diagnostics, signal processing, non-destructive testing and the application of artificial Intelligence and neural network.

As the special director of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, he used to serve as the deputy director of technological sciences division in Chinese Academy of Sciences, the vice-chairman of China Machinery Industry Education Association and the vice-chairman of Hubei Science & Technology Association. By now, he has more than 800 academic papers published in national and international academic journals and 14 series of academic books and cousebooks published. He has also been awarded the National Prize for Natural Sciences, National Invention Prize as well as Technology Awards at provincial level for his scientific research achievements, 5 of which had obtained patents.
