He got the Doctorate of Engineering in Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2007 and finished his Postdoctoral career in the HUST’s Department of Automatic Control .Now he has been an associate professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

The work of Professor Mao mainly focuses on the Machine Dynamics .In the last five years, he lead a project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC) and a Major Projects of University-Industry Cooperation supported by Hubei provincial education department . He also participated in the research of the Project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China,the Advanced manufacturing field of The National High Technology Research and Development Program of China, the National Basic Research Program(973 Program), the National Major Projects of China(CNC programs) ,the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program) and so on.

Now he has published 10 academic papers in China and overseas and has applied 11 patents (4 patents granted). He also has one Software Copyright.
