Over the years, MSE is committed to the mission of "cultivation of talents, innovation and responsibility", taking cultivation as the foremost thing to do. MSE is focusing on students’ cultivation and education, by which to create first-class undergraduate education. Carrying the spirit of reforming and enterprising, MSE continuously makes innovation, perfects teaching methods to form a distinctive education philosophy and idea: Strengthening academic foundation, broadening discipline fields, valuing practice and innovation, developing healthy personality. In order to cultivate talents with practicing and innovation spirit, MSE emphasizes on student-centered, quality training-oriented and industry-demanded. MSE also actively popularizes opening teaching modes, extending the classroom teaching to the society and industry, and continuously explores the re-designing of the border of Higher Engineering Education, which combined the industry demand with discipline development, and continuously optimized curriculum system and teaching contents.
MSE aims to build a world-class innovative platform for manufacturing technology that attracts and cultivates motivated and creative researchers, advanced instruments and modern infrastructure. With unremitting efforts of its faculties and students, MSE has been reshaping the organization, research framework and academic support system to improve scientific and educational activities. MSE has now more than 210 faculties, among them there are 3 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 3 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, an Innovation group of Ministry of education and 2 national teaching groups. MSE is hosting a state key laboratory, 3 national engineering research centres, 3 provincial research platforms, and 2 state-level teaching platforms. The school has 4 Undergraduate Programs, 10 Master-degree Programs, 6 PhD Programs and a Post-doctoral Program. It recruits undergraduate students in Mechanical Design & Automation Specialty, Industry Engineering, Product Design and Measurement-control Technology and Instruments every years. The school enrolls 2000 undergraduates, 1000 full-time graduates and 450 full-time PhD at the moment. Recently, MSE hatches 2 high-tech listed companies, and derives Dongguan-HUST Manufacturing Engineering Institute, which can stand for a series of technology commercialization platform to improve regional economic development.
