Zhou Ji

Born in August 1946, he is the professor and doctoral supervisor of HUST,and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Currently, he is the president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He graduated from Tsinghua University in 1970, got Ph.D degree from State University of New York ( Buffalo ) in 1999 and was elected as academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1999. He used to be the president of Huazhong University of Science and Techonology, a member of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, the director of Hubei Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Mayor of Wuhan and the Minister of Education.

Professor Zhou has long been devoted to the research and teaching on numerical control technology. He made researches on and organized the development and promotion of the application of numerical control and CAD technology. He put forward the algorithm theory of monotonicity analysis optimization and CNC machining direct interpolation and put the theory into practice at the same time. He developed Huazhong CNC system, optimum design, mechanical CAD and other products, which were widely used in the field of machinery, aviation, aerospace, energy and other industries and had made significant social and economic benefits. He has won the National Science and Technology Progress Award four times and has got 14 provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress awards. He has published 11 books and more than 200 papers.
