Academic Areas: Computer aided design and manufacturing, engineering analysis and optimization, and manufacturing process planning.

Zhengdong Huang is a professor of mechanical engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). His research interests include computer graphics, computer-aided design and manufacturing, and engineering analysis and optimization. He obtained his bachelor degree in computational mathematics from Wuhan University, master degree in computer graphics from Zhejiang University and PhD degree in mechanical engineering from HUST. From 1998 to 2002, he had worked as a postdoctor at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He is an editorial board member of Journal of Computer-Aided Design & Computer Graphics, and the journal of CADDM. His research has been funded by 5 grants from NSFC and 2 from High-Tech. R&D Program of China. He has authored or co-authored more than 70 academic papers, some of which are published on the famous journals of his research area like Computer-Aided Design, Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, Pattern Recognition, ASME Journal of Computing and Information Science in Engineering, and ASME Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering.

Professional Experience

From June 1983 to Sept. 1986, he worked as a CAE software engineer at the Institute of Computer Applications in Ministry of Ordnance Industry of PRC. Since June 1989, he held a teaching position in mechanical engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). On leave from HUST, he had ever been a postdoctor at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor from 1998 to 2002.
