The ISFSE2016 (International Symposium of flexible and stretchable electronics 2016) sponsored by Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), State Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing and Equipment Technology, National Natural Science and Engineering (NSFC), Hubei Province Association for Artificial Intelligence (HAAI) was successfully held in Wuhan, China from June 29-30, 2016. There were nearly 120 participants at home and abroad.

The conference formally opened on June 29 at 8:30am and the general chairman of the meeting YoulunXiong gave an opening speech to welcome participants.General chairmanZhonglin Wang sent a message to congratulation on the successfully of this conference.

Managing vice president of Huazhong University of Science and Technology,Xinyu Shao addressed the conference.

Then, the first presentation was given by the invited scholar Prof.Yonggang Huang from Northwestern University, USA to rise the curtain on theISFSE2016. The theme of this conference is the applications and manufacturing of the flexible and stretchable electronics. During the meeting, international experts and scholars gave excellent presentations and discussed their work with audients. Presenters displayed the paper title and authors and affiliations on their posters. Participants voted top 5 papers anonymously, and six winners were announced and awarded certificates with prize and certificate at theISFSE2016.

The meeting invited 5 internationally renowned experts and scholarsfor presentations: Prof. YonggangHuangfrom the Northwestern Polytechnical University made a report of “Mechanically Guided, Deterministic Three-Dimensional Assembly”, aiming to design 3D constructs in advanced materials; Prof.YibingChengfrom Australia Mongolia Nash University analyzed problems about flexible perovskite solar cells and their stability; Prof. ZhoupingYinfromthe Huazhong University of Science and Technology express his own opinions on issues about flexible electronic manufacturing equipment and low-cost printing technology; Prof. Dae-Hyeong Kim from Seoul National University introduced a new implantable and wearable healthcare device using soft electronics; Prof. XuanheZhaofrom the Massachusetts Institute of Technology designed soft electronics based on bioinspiration and biointegration.

 This conference was been divided into six sessions and 19 well-known experts were invited to do the presentations about flexible and stretchable electronicsincluding micro/nano fabrication technologies, Flexible electronic equipment and manufacturing, wearable devices using soft electronics, solar energy and etc. Besides Invited presentations, Oral presentations and poster presentations,we invited five scholars of international standing to deliver  panel lectures in public. Prof. Yonggang  Huang, Prof.Yibing Cheng, Prof. Dae-Hyeong Kim,  Prof. Xuanhe Zhao and Prof. Haixia Zhang led participants to discuss 12 hot issues including reliability or new functions of flexible and stretchable electronics, advanced materials, flexible electronics manufacturing, ways to translate flexible electronics to medical application, the roles of organic electronics or inorganic electronics in the flexible electronics and etc.

 Prof. Jianfeng Zang, Prof. Lihua Qian, Prof. Jun Zhou, Professor Jiang Tang, Prof. Lei Wang, Prof. FuZhi Huang, Prof. Rong Chen, Prof. Zhigang Wu, Prof. Yongan Huang, were the branch chairmen respectively.

 This conference promoted the International collaboration and communication in this area, and provided plenty of opportunities for participants.
