Dr. Jiang Xu, School of Mechanical Science & Engineering (MSE) of HUST, attended the 17th International Symposium on Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, (ISEM2015) from 15 to 18 September 2015 in Awaji Island, Kobe, Japan. He also made an oral report named “A feasibility study of tension measurement using longitudinal mode guided waves based on the magnetostrictive effect”, in which a feasibility of tension measurement method for the short cable using longitudinal mode guided waves based on the magnetostrictive effect is investigated.
The ISEM2015 is focused on applications of electromagnetics and mechanics. Specifically, the symposium provides a forum for exchanging ideas and discussing recent developments in such areas as (1) Nanotechnology Applications、(2) Nondestructive Evaluation (Electromagnetic and Mechanical methods) and Advanced Signal processing、(3) Analysis and Simulation of Electromagnetic Devices、(4) Electromagnetic Sensors and Actuators and so on. The ISEM2015 has attracted more than 350 scholars from 13 countries. Dr. Nora M. Dempsey from Institut Neel, CNRS & Universite Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble, France、Prof. Harvey Thomas Banks from North Carolina State University, USA and other famous scholars are invited to give talks at the symposium, the contents of the talks give great inspiration to the participants.
The visit was supported by the international cooperation promoting program funds of MSE.
