From 11.13.2015 to 11.19.2015, Professor WU Zhigang was invited to attend the International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition 2015(IMECE 2015) hosted by American Society of Mechanical Engineers(ASME) in Houston, America. In the congress, Professor Zhigang Wu made a report of “Tape Transfer Printing for Microfluidic Based Stretchable Electronics”.

In this report, Professor Wu presented a new technique for printing any high quality pattern on soft substrates, based on tape transferred adhesive masking and deposition of a liquid alloy. The research improved the technology and fabricated an integrated radio frequency identify tag, which showed the robustness of the packaged hybrid integrated system when stretched at 50% in 3,000 cycles. Further developed with a multilayer fabrication technique, a microfluidic stretchable wireless power transfer device with an integrated LED was demonstrated, which could survive cycling between 0% and 25% strain over 1,000 times. Some professors attended professor Wu’s communication report , including professor Michael Dickey and associate professor Yong Zhu from NCUS, associate professor Aaron Mazzeo from Rutgers University, associate professor Nanshu Lu from University of Texas at Austin, associate professor Rebecca Kramer from Perdue, associate professor Tricia B.Carmichael from Windsor University, associate professor Cunjiang Yu from Houston University and associate professor Jianliang Xiao from University of Colorado Boulder. After the congress, professor Wu made an in-depth communication with professor Yonggang Huang and his teammates, Huanyu Cheng and Yuhang Chen, from Northwestern University, professor Shu Yang from University of Pennsylvania, associate professor Hanqing Jiang from Arizona State University, professor Shuodao Wang from Oklahoma State University, associate professor Miao Yu from Maryland University and associate professor Haijun Liu from Temple University.

ASME's International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) is the largest interdisciplinary mechanical engineering conference in the world. IMECE plays a significant role in stimulating innovation from basic discovery to translational application. It fosters new collaborations that engage stakeholders and partners not only from academia, but also from national laboratories, industry, research settings, and funding bodies. Among the 4,000 attendees from 75+ countries are mechanical engineers in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, advanced energy, fluids engineering, heat transfer, design engineering, materials and energy recovery, applied mechanics, power, rail transportation, nanotechnology, bioengineering, internal combustion engines, environmental engineering, and more.

This attendance was supported by International Cooperation Promotion Plan of MSE.
