PROF.TAN KAY CHEN FROM CITY UNIVERSTIY OF HONG KONG VISITED MSE

Prof.Tan Kay Chen, invited by Prof.Gao Liang, visited MSE and State Key Lab of Digital Manufacturing Equipment and Technology on Sept 30, 2017. He gave a report entitled Computational Intelligence in Condition-based Maintenance Applications.

In the report, Dr.Tan elaborated theories and methods of neuro-morphic cognition and computing,algorithm optimization, data minging and machine learning. He also introduced the application of computational intelligence in condition-based maintenance from aspects of remaining useful time of equipment, imbalanced learning, surface quality inspection, welding defect detecting. Teachers and students who came to the seminar discussed enthusiastically with Dr. Tan on the lecture topics after his presentation.The attendees harvested a lot from the lectures, the event was successful.

Kay Chen Tan, a professor at Department of Computer Science in City University of Hong Kong, is an IEEE fellow. Dr. Tan is the chief editor of IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation(IF 10.629), and he was the chief editor of IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine during 2010-2013. Currenly, he serves on the editorial board of more than 15 international journals. So far more than 50 international conferences have invited Dr. Tan to give speeches. He was appointed as the co-chairman of IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence 2016, and currently he is elected as a committee memberof IEEECISAdCom (2017-2019) and an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer (2015-2017).Dr. Tan has more than 130journal papers, more than 130 conference papers and 7books(co-authored) published.His researches are mainly focused on artificial intelligence, computing intelligence, machine learning and equipment maintenance.
