HUST ESI Ranking Rises Steadily

On Jan. 11, 2018 (American Time), Clarivate Analytics updated The Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database. Among 5701 institutions worldwide that have made into the top 1% list, HUST ranks No. 317, moving up 7 spots compared to the ratings in Nov. 2017 and taking the No. 10 position on the list of building world first-class universities.

   

The Upward Trend of HUST ESI Ranking in All Fields 

Altogether 15 HUST disciplines are included into world’s top 1% ESI list. Among these disciplines, its Engineering Science, Material Science and Computer Science are rated top 1‰ worldwide.

HUST Preponderant Discipline Ranking and High Impact Papers

A total of 478 papers with HUST affiliation are selected as “Highly Cited Papers” by ESI, increasing by 10 papers compared to the previous update. 19 are among the ESI “Hot Papers”, increasing by 5 compared to the previous update. Totally 480 highly cited and hot papers are identified, making HUST the No. 10 on the list of building first-class universities.  

Essential Science Indicators (ESI) is an analytical tool for evaluating research performance and identifying significant science trends. It is a quantitative analysis database of over 10 million literatures derived from approximately 12,000 journals indexed in Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science (SCIE/SSCI).  

ESI provides a very important reference for evaluating first-class universities and disciplines. At present, many famous universities around the world are using ESI to assess their academic strengths. Domestic education authorities and universities at all levels are attaching increasing importance to ESI. More and more universities set the goal of pushing their disciplines into ESI world’s top 1% ranking list. The ESI database is updated every two months. The present data is updated on January 11, 2018 (January 12, Beijing Time), covering from January 1 to October 31, 2017.
