Prof. Weizhang Ye, invited by Prof. Liang Gao, visited MSE and State Key Lab of Digital Manufacturing Equipment and Technology on August 14, 2018. Ye is a professor of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management of Taiwan Tsinghua University. He delivered a lecture entitled “Simplified Swarm Optimization (SSO) and Optimize Parameters Identification for Solar Cell Mode”. This lecture also attracted teachers and students from other schools of HUST and other universities who carried out relative research.
This report is divided into two parts, simplified swarm optimization and application of SSO algorithm in solar panel parameter optimization. First, Professor Ye gave a detailed introduction to the simplified swarm optimization algorithm. SSO is a population-based intelligent optimization algorithm and use the stepwise function to update the population. Then, Professor Ye introduced the SSO algorithm flow through a simple example of linear function optimization. Based on the research experience of Professor Ye for many years, the three improved methods of SSO are summarized based on the algorithm mixing strategy. Subsequently, he introduced the application of SSO algorithm in optimal parameters of solar cells. A modified simplified swarm optimization (MSSO) algorithm is presented. In MSSO, a new one-variable-update mechanism and survival-of-the-fittest policy are applied to enhance the ability of traditional SSO. Experiments show that this method is effective and efficient in solving this problem.
After the meeting, the participants and Professor Ye discussed the issues related to the SSO algorithm. This report will be successfully concluded.
