The 11th International Conference on Intelligent Robotics and Applications Was Held in University of Newcastle, Australia

On August 9th-11th, The 11th International Conference on  Intelligent Robotics and Applications (ICIRA 2018) was held in Newcastle, Australia. The conference was co-sponsored by Chinese National Natural Science Foundation and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and organized by School of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Newcastle, Australia. More than 130 experts from all over the world were presented at the conference.

 

The 11th ICIRA covers both theory and applications in all the areas of robotics, automation and mechatronics. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to: robotics collective and social robots, human-robot interaction, mobile robots and intelligent autonomous systems, robotic vision, recognition and reconstruction, multi-agent systems and distributed control, robot intelligence, learning and linguistics, robot design, development and control, robot motion analysis and planning,  medical robot, robot actuators and sensors, robot cooperation, robot legged locomotion, robot mechanism and design, perception and awareness, space and underwater robots, virtual and augmented reality, navigation/localization.

 


 

Doctoral student Zhu Angfan from Huazhong University, whose thesis was co-advised by Prof. Cao Zhiguo and Associate Prof. Xiao Yang, won the Best Paper Award.

 

The ICIRA, as one of the international conferences on robotics, was founded by Academician Xiong Youlun, Ding Han, etc. The 1st ICIRA was organized by Huazhong University, and then held in different countries like Singapore, Germany, Canada, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Japan. After evaluation, ICIRA 2019 will be held by Shenyang Institute of Automation Chinese Academy of Sciences.
