Mechanical Engineering Sub-forum of the 9th (2020) International Young Scholars East Lake Forum Successfully Held

On December 28-29, the Mechanical Engineering Sub-forum of the 9th (2020) International Young Scholars East Lake Forum was successfully held in MSE, HUST, with a live broadcast for attendees overseas. The forum is one of the important academic activities held by MSE every year. This year's Forum gathered 45 outstanding young scholars from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, etc., who exchanged ideas on frontier scientific and technological researches.

On the morning of December 28, the sub-forum was held in MSE Lecture Hall. Prof. Gao Liang, Secretary of the Party Committee of MSE delivered a welcome speech, and introduced the basic information and achievements of MSE in recent years as well as the various supporting policies of HUST and MSE for young talents. Gao expressed the hope that the forum would promote exchanges between scholars at home and abroad as well as enhance mutual understanding and cooperation. He welcomed these young scholars to join in MSE. The sub-forum was chaired by Ms. Zhang Fen, Vice Dean of MSE.

6 young scholars from different universities made wonderful reports at the meeting, whose topics covered some advanced technologies and hot research topics. In the Q & A period, the audience and scholars had a warm exchange and discussion.


After the reports and exchanges, young scholars paid a “cloud visit” to the State Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing Equipment Technology, the Precision Measurement Center, the Lab of Wearable Robots and the Lab of Flexible Electronics Manufacturing.

The forum was held both offline and online live broadcasting, with an average online audience of 8500. By this way, the forum has achieved a good result which benefited the attendees so much.

On the morning of 29, MSE held four seminars with different topics both online and offline at the same time, where 22 young scholars at home and abroad carried out exchanges and discussions with MSE teachers and students.

The International Young Scholars East Lake Forum, by holding seminars, academic discussions and talent negotiations, has built a good exchange platform for young talents in different disciplines. It not only expanded the influence of MSE, but also attracted many outstanding young scholars to pay attention to MSE, which helped promote the talent introduction of the school.
