From March 19 to 21, the 2021 Spring Forum for Young Elites in Mechanical Engineering & the Awards Ceremony of the 10th HIWIN Excellent Doctoral Dissertation on Mechanical Engineering was successfully held. The conference was sponsored by Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and jointly organized by School of Mechanical Science and Engineering of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (MSE), the Robotics Branch of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and the State Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing Equipment and Technology (the State Key Lab). It consisted of three parts: the academic experience sharing meeting "My Road to the HIWIN Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award", the Spring Forum for Young Elites of Mechanical Engineering and the Awards Ceremony of the 10th HIWIN Excellent Doctoral Dissertation on Mechanical Engineering.
On the evening of March 19, the academic experience sharing meeting "My Road to the HIWIN Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award" was held in the lecture hall of MSE, which was hosted by Prof. Zhao Huan of the State Key Lab. The meeting invited 2 guests for sharing, namely Mr. Liao Wenlin, Associate Research Fellow of China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center and gold medal winner of the 6th HIWIN Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award, and Prof. Sun Yanhua of MSE and silver medal winner of the 1st HIWIN Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award. They were invited to share with MSE postgraduates the experience of applying for the award and their own research and life experiences in their doctoral career.
On March 20th, the 2021 Spring Forum for Young Elites in Mechanical Engineering was held in the Lecture Hall of MSE, which was presided over by Prof. Xu Jianfeng of the State Key Lab. Prof. Gao Liang, Secretary of MSE Party Committee, and Ms. Zuo Xiaowei, Vice Secretary General of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, addressed at the forum. Academician Ding Han of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dean of MSE, was invited to give a report. Prof. Peng Fangyu, Vice Dean of MSE, and Prof. Huang Yongan of the State Key Lab, gave invited lectures. Young elites from different universities made 21 wonderful special reports on ultra-precision machining and micro-nano manufacturing, advanced manufacturing and high-end equipment, as well as robot technology, etc. The forum also invited many well-known experts and scholars in mechanical engineering in China, winners of previous HIWIN Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Awards, and many winners of national high-level titles. In addition, the forum set up 45 posters for displaying. The forum also had an online live platform to provide learning and exchange opportunities for scholars (live and playback website: https://wx.vzan.com/live/tychat-1453415832 # /), and the total number of online and offline participants exceeded 17200.
On the morning of March 21st, the Awards Ceremony of the 10th HIWIN Excellent Doctoral Dissertation on Mechanical Engineering was held at Wutongyu Academic Center. Academician Li Peigen of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and Mr. Zhuo Yongcai, President of HIWIN Technologies Corp., addressed at the ceremony. In this year’s awards list, there were 2 Silver Awards, 3 Bronze Awards, 5 Excellent Awards, 11 Honorable Awards and 4 Special Awards. Academician Li Peigen, Academician Li Dequn, Academician Yan Xinping, Prof. Huang Tian of Tianjin University, and Mr. Lu Daming, Vice president and Secretary General of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, presented awards to the winners. A number of experts and scholars attended the awards ceremony.
On the afternoon of March 21st, experts and scholars visited the State Key Lab.
The annual Spring Forum for Young Elites in Mechanical Engineering is a helpful platform to the development of young scholars in the field of mechanical engineering. It is expected that there will be more young talents in the team of constructing the country, and make more contributions to make China a powerful nation of science and technology.
Brief introduction of HIWIN Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award
HIWIN Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award was jointly established by Taiwan HIWIN Technologies Corp. and Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society in 2011. The award aims to improve the level of China’s manufacturing technology, strengthen the cultivation of high-level creative talents, encourage innovation spirit, and improve the quality of doctoral education in the field of mechanical engineering and automation in China. It will also help to stimulate and encourage Chinese young students to devote themselves into R & D and creative application in mechanical engineering and automation, cultivate excellent mechanical engineering talents, and enhance the interaction between business and academia, thus promoting the upgrading and innovation of mechanical industry technology. The 1st HIWIN Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Awards Ceremony was held in Wuhan.
