On April 24, the result of MCM/ICM was released. The MCM/ICM, namely the Mathematical Contest in Modeling/ the Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling, was sponsored by COMAP (Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications of the USA). The “Operations Research and Optimization” Innovation Team composed by MSE undergraduates of Industrial Engineering Department have achieved good results. Among them, the team of junior undergraduates Yu Hong and Lu Longfei, under the guidance of Professor Li Xinyu, was designated as Finalist (top prize nomination, about 0.3% in the world). The team of Wu Dantong, Ma Wenxin and Zheng Yi was designated as Meritorious Winner (first prize, about 8% in the world).

In addition, junior undergraduates Chen Jingwei's team and Zhu Dandan's team, and sophomores Zhao Ronghui, Fan Yi and Wei Shaotang's team were designated as Honorable Mention (second prize); juniors Chen Ziyan and Xu zewei, and sophomores Ke Yingying, Hu Ruiwen, Zhang Hailong, Wu Yipeng, Wang Hao, Hu Zishun, Zhu Yiming, Chen Dezhang and Wu Jiaxin, were designated as Successful Participants (third prize) as 6 teams.

COMAP'S Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) / Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM) is a top contest in international mathematical modeling field. The 2021 contest ended on February 9. Each team was composed of 3 members, and then chose a subject to complete the whole process of mathematical modeling of a real-world problem within 4 days. During the process, the students would learn quickly, collaborate with each other and be active in mind for the common purpose, and give full play to their potential in a short time, showing the positive and enterprising demeanor of contemporary college students

The "Operations Research and Optimization" Innovation Team of MSE, under the guidance of Prof. Gao Liang and Prof. Li Xinyu, has always been implementing the professional concept of "continuous improvement" in industrial engineering. The team is committed to cultivating team members' abilities of optimization thinking, teamwork and independent study. By encouraging team members to participate in contests and projects, the team provides a learning platform for like-minded students, thus guiding the all-round development for industrial engineering students.
