From December 6th to 7th, 2024, HUST-MSE successfully collaborated with HUST-SIE to hold the First "East Lake Forum" International Student Academic Exchange Seminar. This event echoed the series of letters from President Xi Jinping to international students, striving to advance high-level educational openness in the new era and further refine "HUST Model" for high-quality international student cultivation. The event attracted the active participation of over 100 outstanding international students from 8 universities in Wuhan.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Rong Chen, Associate Dean of HUST-MSE, delivered an opening speech on behalf of HUST, extending a warm welcome to all teachers and students. She emphasized the importance of the event in promoting the construction of the "HUST Model" for high-quality international student cultivation and enhancing cross-cultural understanding and academic cooperation.
During the academic exchange session, Professor Changqing Liu from HUST-MSE, as a guest speaker, delivered a plenary speech on "Advanced Interconnect Materials and Manufacturing (AIMM) to Underpin IC Heterogenous Integration." He introduced the recent development of materials and processes for packaging and integration of integrated circuits and their applications in emerging technological fields such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and intelligent manufacturing, providing valuable academic insights to the participating international students.
To ensure the academic professionalism and impartiality of the event, HUST-MSE specially formed an academic review committee consisting of experts and scholars such as Researcher Jinlong Zhu, Associate Professor Zhaohui Xia, Associate Professor Akhil Garg, and Chunjiang Zhang. After strict preliminary and formal reviews by the committee, 12 international students' research achievements and practical investigation reports stood out and entered the on-site presentation session. They presented their professional research findings or fieldwork observations in various industries in China, vividly showcasing their experiences and insights gained during their studies and lives in China, particularly in the field of intelligent manufacturing.
The successful holding of this event not only provided a platform for exchange and mutual learning among outstanding international students but also further contributed to the brand building of "Studying at HUST" and the refinement of the "HUST Model" for high-quality international student cultivation. It demonstrated HUST-MSE's proactive attitude and in-depth exploration in international education cooperation and exchange.
Looking ahead, HUST-MSE will continue to uphold the concepts of openness, inclusiveness, and cooperation under the guidance of HUST-SIE, providing more opportunities for international students to engage in exchange and cooperation, and contributing to the cultivation of more high-quality talents with international perspectives and innovative capabilities!
